  • Details
A stunning pen and ink portrait of a lady, very detailed and very skilfully drawn.
It is dated 1805 ( the same year as The Battle of Trafalgar) and there is a circular cypher over the date. I believe this could be the mark of the professional portrait artist.
I can not identify the sitter or the artist.
The frame is remarkable, the picture is mounted in an oak frame which is very well made. This frame in turn has been mounted in another frame incorporating glass.
I believe the oak frame is the original from 1805, but this did not incorporate glass. About 100 years later I believe they decided that the portrait required protecting so Mr Kerridge was instructed to frame the whole lot so that the old frame actually became a mount to stop the artwork touching the glass. Hence we have the two contrasting frames.
We have Mr Kerridge's sticker on the back and he was a master carpenter and picture framer in the early 1900's.
Fascinating item and as you can see has given me a lot of pleasure trying to research and understand it's idiosyncracies.

    Privacy policy

I need a privacy policy to tell you how I protect your details and how I use them.
This is quite easy for me; I need to know who you are and where you live so that I can send your purchases to you. For larger items I need to use a courier, the courier needs your email and mobile phone number so that they can arrange delivery. These details when provided are used solely for that purpose.
That's it really I do not use your details for any other purpose, I will only contact you through the Etsy Conversations facility.
I will reply of course if you email me.
I do not keep any records of your details other than those maintained by Etsy.
I am trying to figure out how to use Facebook, but in truth I am struggling with that.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Will you accept returns?

The nature of my items is that they are breakable and often heavy. They do not react well to repeated travel and the heavy items are expensive to ship. I sell worldwide which involves Customs in your country when you buy and my country if you were to return. It is therefore impractical / impossible to have a blanket policy allowing returns.
However if you wish to make a return please contact me and we can resolve the issue, particularly if you are in UK or Europe as postage is easier and customs are not involved.
